Adamnan had reported the first sighting of the creature in the 7th century book- Life of St. Columba. Nigel, one of my clients, has a lot of confusion about this issue. He believes that people, especially his wife and children, “should” be respectful to him, and he gets very angry when they treat him disrespectfully - which they often do.

What Nigel has failed to understand - which is what led him to seek my help - is that others are often a mirror of how we treat ourselves.

Much of my work with Nigel has centered around becoming aware of the many ways he disrespects himself and what would be respectful to himself.

EMOTIONALLY:

* He often judges his own feelings, discounting his feelings and telling himself that he “shouldn’t” feel this way.

* He often ignores his feelings, staying focused in his head instead of his body, and turning to addictions, such as sugar and TV to numb his feelings.

* He sees himself as a victim of others’ choices, making others responsible for his feelings rather than taking responsibility for his own pain and joy.

PHYSICALLY:

* He often stays up late watching TV, disrespecting his need for adequate sleep.

* He often grabs junk food, not taking the time to eat well, disrespecting his body’s need for good nutrition.

* He doesn’t take the time to exercise so he is out of shape, disrespecting his need for a strong and healthy body.

* He dresses poorly, even to the point of wearing socks with holes in them, and often wearing dirty or wrinkled clothes, disrespecting his inner desire for clean and appropriate clothing.

ORGANIZATIONALLY:

* He is often late, disrespecting his inner desire to get places on time and not be stressed about it.

* His desk is often a mess, disrespecting his inner desire for order in his life.

Each time his wife or children, or anyone else treats him disrespectfully, Nigel is learning to go inside and see how he is treating himself.

As a result of this, more people are treating him respectfully. While there will always be some people who are consistently disrespectful to everyone, Nigel is finding out that others do change in response to his changes. He is also learning to respect himself enough to disengage from others when they are being disrespectful to him.

Quests are the key element of the game. Without completing them, you’re going nowhere. Here are some tips for completing quests easier.

For starters, if you’ve got the bucks, spring for the Collector’s Edition of the game. It comes with some bonus items that will make completing quests a whole lot easier. Yes, some of the items you won’t be able to use until after level 9, but once you can, you will see what a HUGE difference they make.

If you don’t want to go that route, there are other things you can do.

Probably one of the most important, and something players don’t take advantage of enough, is Work Orders. Work Orders, unlike quests, can be done over and over. Why would you want to do this? Because completing Work Orders gives you more experience and helps level you quicker. This in turn makes it easier to complete quests because your character is stronger. Don’t ignore Work Orders.

Another thing you will probably want to do is get the official Aion Quest Guide. Yeah, I know…another way for these guys to make a buck. But trust me. As a long time gamer (going back to the original D&D on floppy disk) quest guides are almost a must.

The reason is because there are so many and the in game info for the quests is almost nil. Truth is, you can waste valuable time just trying to figure quests out. With the guide, you know what quest you need, where it is and what you have to do to finish it…quickly. It’s worth the few bucks to have this advantage.

Finally, and this is so important, don’t allow yourself to be distracted. Take one quest at a time and finish it before moving onto the next one. If, however, you find that you are having trouble completing a quest, go back and do a Work Order. This will give you more XP and hopefully get you up another level. There are some quests that you’re simply not going to be able to complete with weak characters.

How to Choose the Best Weapon.

Weapons are tricky at the higher levels. When you first begin, you are given a starter weapon for whatever character you have chosen to play. You then use it for a few levels before you are given a choice of what weapon to choose next.

This is where things get tricky. Yes, the weapon you choose WILL make a BIG difference.

When you reach level 10, you complete a quest which gives you the choice of 3 weapons. The weapons, however, are based on your starter class and not the class that you have just become. It is CRTICAL to know which weapon is right for your new class because the game does a lousy job of explaining it.

Let’s start with the Warrior.

You get a sword at level 1. As you level, you get access to a shield. If you don’t have luck in finding one, buy one.

Once you hit level 10, you become either a Templar or a Gladiator. If a Templar, choose either the sword or the great sword. If a Gladiator, take the polearm. Trust me on this.

Let’s move on to the Scout

Scout’s start with a dagger. As you get access to a sword…use it. The Scout is the most vulnerable at lower levels because let’s face it, with a dagger, you really have to get up close to do damage.

Scouts can become Assassins or Rangers. Unfortunately, there are no new weapons options for Assassins, so keep this in mind when choosing. Rangers are a complete shift in action as they can now attack with ranged weapons. Take the bow option from the quest reward. This is your best move.
